FOR IMMEDIATE CONSUMPTION
Off-Season Heating Up for "Matzger Machine"

November 2, 1998

Skate racer and instructor Eddy Matzger's off-season is shaping up to be anything but quiet. Plans slated for execution include 3 more workshops in 1999, a New Year's Marathon in Tokyo, Japan, a video-editing project, travel to Colombia, South America, a race in French Polynesia, and continued expansion of www.skatecentral.com, a hot new skating site.

By popular demand, Matzger will return to Japan to deliver workshops in three separate cities before the end of the year. Such was the demand for Matzger after his workshops in years past that additional dates have been added on in '99, including Tokushima, Chiba, and Gunma.

Matzger also plans to keep his conditioning above par in preparation for an international New Year's Marathon in Tokyo, Japan. Matzger will be pitted against arch rivals Masaki-san and Takahara-san., and American phenoms Chad Hedrick and Derek Downing have also been invited to attend by the Japanese skating Federation.

Eddy also is striving to get the knack of a video editing system called Media 100 in order to produce videos for instructional and entertainment purposes. The Media 100 system digitizes video via a "Vincent-card" and enables near real-time rendering of professional effects previously only attainable with super computers.

Matzger is not just being actively sought-after for his coaching skills in America. Colombia has shown significant interest in retaining Eddy to train its skaters for international competitions, and may soon bring him to South America to explore future potential.

The biggest new race of the year promises to be a marathon on Moorea, Tahiti, in mid-February, 1999. Skaters of all ages and nationalities will congegrate to race in paradise and enjoy its fruits thereafter.

Workshop administrator Bob Flynn has already declared 1999 to be a banner year for workshops in America. "E-mail and website interest is already boiling over with enthusiasm," Flynn stated. Both Flynn and Matzger are eagerly anticipating the release of the upcoming season's official schedule so that more than a dozen workshop dates can be set in stone for 1999.

Eddy's continuing brainchild along with perennial teammate Dan Burger is www.skatecentral.com. It aspires to be inline skating's informational source.
