San Diego skaters could hardly tear themselves away from an Access to Speed workshop packed with information, action, and emotion, April 23-25, 1999, in San Diego,CA.

20 troopers came to hone and tinker and enhance their fun in the cool maritime breezes of a parking lot near Sea World. The gently sloping parking lot allowed skaters to confront their stopping fears in manageable bits as well as to test their skating skills on one foot uphill.

Everybody was genuinely sad to have it all end so soon. There was a collective realization that the road to improvement is arduous but attainable, and that the rewards of skating are found in the enjoyment of the process, not solely in the attainment of ever-increasing speed.

"Way more fun than I ever thought possible," said one proud survivor of the San Diego Workshop. Same here.
