Portland Workshop Intense and Exciting

Want to hit Portland at its best? Without a single cloud in the sky for 3 whole days, the Salomon Access to Speed Workshop with Eddy Matzger burned up the pavement at an elementary school, July 6-8, 2001, in Portland, OR.

Even though a new record was set by 6-year old Noah Coor for being the workshop's youngest participant ever, there was nothing elementary about the subject matter. Skaters were challenged at all levels throughout weekend.

There were enough drills for any skater to auger himself into the ground. Just when people started to get tired, a certain team spirit emerged and everybody was able to rally their energies and collect superhuman strength for the grand finale: a 3-leg stage race!

The action was intense and exciting and people's personalities and sense of the common good of banding together shone like the brilliant Northwest sun.

A special thanks are due to Salomon, TWINCAM bearings, Explore wheels, Transpack, Wigwam, and Raymond Verdaguer for the true bang they provided so close to Independence Day!
