California. Colorado, and Arizona skaters rose to the occasion and kept the fires burning for 16 solid hours of skating, skating, and more skating at the ILQ Eddy Matzger Workshop, March 14-16, 2003, in Phoenix, Arizona.

The teamwork was incredible. There were mother/daughter teams, brother/sister teams, boyfriend/girlfriend teams, and just plain teammates who all came out to jumpstart their season with drills and exercises and games that made learning a blast.

Superior balance and pacing allowed workshop skaters to practice the principle of least work and save energy, which they nonetheless spent liberally throughout the weekend. They particularly latched on to the double push, and at up the drills hungrily en route to Bananramaland.

Mark and Michelle Gaylor opened their house for victuals and video and all learned heaps by seeing themselves skate on the bigscreen and have their technique analyzed with suggestions for improvement.

"I've learned so much already," said one satisfied skater only one quarter of the way through. "Thanks for all the little nuggets, they've made me better so quickly," said another.

Skaters were stoked to recieve TWINCAM ILQ-9's, Wigwam socks, Explore race wheels, blinkie lights, workshop shirts, and Transpack goodies on top of quality inline instruction.
