An unbelievably spirited group flocked to a rollercoaster overflow parking lot for two days of skating and strength boosting at the Phoenix Access to Speed Workshop, March 9-11, 2001. Don't think you have enough energy to participate for 16 hours of nonstop whirlygigging? No problem! Let Penny or Sherawn pull for you while you take a seat and laugh until you get a belly ache. Serious training disquised as pure fun. At 69, Bob was statuesque skating material. At 9, Sherawn was like a string of firecrackers that went off for two days straight. Both gave all of us hope and plenty of pause for wondrement. Mark and Michelle, freshly back from Tahitian honeymooning, were still staring into eachothers eyes lovingly. Between exercises, that is. When dedicating themselves to performing exercises, their wheels could be heard ripping into the pavement with their heel carves. We can build a better Predator! Everybody progressed. The Tackett boys jumped at the opportunity to improve, which they did in leaps and bounds. Even Tusconians got into the act. Gail found herself right at home, chewing up and spitting out the course material with strength and finesse. The workshop was swamped with goodies from TWINCAM bearings, Explore wheels, Salomon, Transpack, Wigwam, and Raymond Verdaguer designs. skatecentral |
