This exercise, called "under-the-bar" was the clear
winner of the day. Skaters were required to get into a balanced
nose-knees-toes balanced position and glide on one skate underneath
the bar. In this case the bar was a broom handle, held lightly by
two people on either end. Here Misao, 12, glides effortlessly
under the bar in grand style. Misao is from Shikoku, the island
south of the biggest island, Honshu. He comes to train with the
Kazamaki family because there's no-one to skate with where he's from.
