It was sunny and 74 at the last Eddy Matzger Workshop of 2004 on December 10-12, perfect timing for escaping winter wetness and getting a booster on the competition for the upcoming season.

"I've been wanting to take Eddy's workshop for years but thought that I had to be an advanced skater in order to be able to keep up," wrote one skater about his experience. "Well I was wrong. You may not be able to skate like the advanced skaters, but you'll be able to absorb all you can and develop good habits that don't have to be corrected years later."

"Eddy dissected the components of the skating motion, put it under a 10x magnifying glass, and then let you feast on it," he continued. "He will show you the dry land drills and in slow motion to break down the mental and physical barriers."

In the past year, I was told what's wrong with my technique or lack of technique, but I didn't get it or wasn't convinced. Eddy has such clarity and so pisitive in his approach that his message got through."

"For the first time, I have the understanding of the sublety in skating motion. I've seen advanced skater skate but couldn't put my finger on it. Eddy dissected the single push thoroughly. He gave me the blueprint of the single push that I've been looking for but sort of hit and missed over the last six months."

"At the end of the day and workshop, for graduation, Eddy gave each one of us his comments in writing. . . All I can say is had I known that the workshop was going to be like this, I'd have taken it years and years ago. Eddy is not only a master at teaching, he is also super friendly and so unassuming. It's also a great pleasure to watch him skate closeup for two days. He made it look so easy!"

Many thanks to Thomas for providing the writeup for this workshop, and to TWINCAM, Sandy, Jenni, Mike, Bobward, and all who helped make the workshop such a great way to ring in the new season!
