The last Eddy Matzger Workshop of 2001 concluded with a bang in Gifu, Japan, October 27, 2001. Japanese students brimmed over with enthusiasm and met each challenge with cheery determination. What better place to enjoy a balmy October day than on the shores of the scenic and famous Nagaragawa River? Gifu castle stood watching over the workshop proceedings while the sun took its tour of the skies. No matter that Eddy possesses no more than a rudimentary kit of Japanese words and sayings. Most of the material was conveyed with detailed, step by step demonstrations. Within the space of a very short time most students had even mastered the double push. To Koji and Ai Tanaka, who brought the workshop to the lantern and cormorant fishing capital of the rising sun, hooray! And matanay! TWINCAM bearings, Salomon palm sliders, Explore wheels, Transpack lighted keychains, Wigwam socks, and Raymond Verdaguer design shirts were amazing party favors for the Japanese skaters. skatecentral |
