Winged Flyers at Texas Workshop

Ever wondered what skaters in heat look like? Wonder no more! Winged flyers at the Texas State Fair Grounds practiced their moves in withering hundred degree heat at the Eddy Matzger Workshop, June 1-3, 2001 in Dallas, TX.

Learning to skate efficiently was a boon for skaters, who now were able to minimize their energy expenditure yet increase their speed! Little revelations like the heel carve and the hip thing multiplied the pleasure of skating with the wind in your face.

Everybody pushed their limits to new orbits, exceeding previous comfort zones and speeds with every passing hour. In spite of frequent earthbound episodes, skaters were bound to succeed and kept getting up for more.

Just when participants thought they had nothing left to give, along came a youngster like Dave or Reba or Jessica or Jake to inject boundless youthful energy into the proceedings. That picked the rest up to go one step beyond and fire up the engines for some more.

One of this nation's most competent skate instructors, Gordon Sanders, was this workshop's gracious host. He kept the hydration happening and supplied his special brand of encouragement and humanity to all around.

TWINCAM bearings, Explore wheels, Salomon, Transpack, Wigwam socks, and Raymond Verdaguer surprised skaters with a bag full of bliss to complement the worskhop experience. Thanks!
