Chicago welcomed the Access to Speed Workshop to town for the first time in history and what a weekend for skating it was. Skaters came from as far afield as Michigan and Iowa for an unforgettable weekend of skill sharpening.

Soldier Field and the skyline of the Windy City became the backdrop for an intensive survey course covering the fundamentals of the classic stroke, the crossover push, the double push, and race training and strategy. A full spectrum of skaters devoured the drills like hungry animals to raw meat.

Strong beasts learned to work in packs and zoom around the varied terrain outside soldier field en route to setting strong times in the team time trial.

During lunch breaks participants rolled to the Blues Fest and let the music seep into tired bones while tanking up on food and liquid.
The Access to Speed Workshop was helped amply by Heidi Goldwater, acts of God, as well as by sponsors Salomon, TWINCAM, Explore, Transpack, Wigwam, and Bobward Flynn.
