My back got a darn good workout skating up from Las Vegas to Red Rock full laden with the contents of a Transpack backpack. That would would be my life contained therein. Transpacks are easily carried on the airplane (overhead stuffable) and can fit skates, laptops, clothes etc. in their cavernous recesses.
