Doug Glass, Chris Miller, Mike Wilson, Dave Cooper, Jason Wells, and Eddy Matzger were seen whooping it up on motorized skates at the NSGA trade show in Chicago, July 9-11, 1999.

At 12 pounds, the fossil-fuel-powered drive skate (as opposed to a 4 pound regular skate) provided horsepower aplenty for acceleration to speeds of up to 24 miles per hour. Hordes of onlookers flocked to the demonstration area to watch skaters attain breakneck speeds on the polished concrete floor of the trade show.

The ticket to ride was a hand-held throttle on a cord. And long as there was gas (a 19 cent fill-up lasts about an hour), a chainsaw whine accompanied by much hooting and hollering could be heard throughout the great hall. The newest product mixing awe and terror nearly stole the show.
