Skaters joined 10,000 runners, wheelchair athletes, and professional and top amateur cyclists in the US 10K Classic event on Labor Day near Atlanta, Georgia. In a spectacular sprint to the finish, Anthony Loello of Marquette, MI beat TWINCAM's Eddy Matzger by 1/100th of a second, with Jonathan Gorman of Roswell third.

Jillieane Rookard of Caleton, MI proved herself the class of the woman's field. Kimberley Foster of Loganville, GA and Daniela Martinez from Miami, FL rounded out the top three.

Most came just to conquer the 6 wicked Appalachian ridges which stack up in rapid succession to make the 10K course one of the most unique and challenging in the world. Employees poured out of IHOPs and Krystal Cremes and KFC's to offer free food and encouragement to participants. A Calypso band set up at the top of the hill where Scouts handed out water.

The post race party is one of the world's best. Your race number entitles you to score majorly on beverages and food provided by supermarket Publix, a great t-shirt and cap, live music to get down on, plus free admission for the day at the theme park Water World.
