Now that there's an inter-island rivalry brewing between the skaters on Tahiti and Raiatea, you'd better believe that the training has stepped up a notch for the upcoming Tahiti Nui Roller Marathon, set to go on March 4, 2002. If you haven't been training lately for skating in paradise, watch out! There are new faces and names on the skating scene, locals who will smile at you and then blow on by! Watch out for Kiki and Marius and Isidor and Michel and Willy and others who will charm you on skates and then smoke you during the race!

And women, you have your work cut out for you too! The future is open wide when you're sure footed and athletically inclined by birthright. Rising to the top like cream are Lindsay and Hedwig, challenging the equally gifted skaters like Hinari and Cynthia.

Claude continues to work magic for the skating scene in French Polynesia. He has secured the 400 meter bike velodrome for weekly skate workouts (skate it clockwise and crossover -- right over left -- in the banks, head high and dive down after the apex!!!). Then he shuttles his horses to the base of a wonderfully steep hill in Arue for a lung-burning hill climb!

Congratulations to Kiki and Hedwig for being the first to the top. You both showed guts and promise and did everybody proud! Train on mes gamins!
