Downer Ave. & Manitowoc: by Sam Weaver The camera was stuck in Europe after skating with the bulls so we didn't get any of the first two days of racing. That, however, didn't mean that the racing wasn't great and the courses weren't spectacular. Whithal Park on Thursday was a beautiful addition to Superweek and Brewer's and Schlitz hills proved challenging again as always. Skaters of all abilities came to Wisconsin again to compete in the one-of-a-kind Superweek of Inline Racing! Medals, prizes, trophies, and even cash money were awarded to skaters male and female in all 4 categories. Team Rainbo of Chicago had the most skaters but also represented were; Wisconsin Speed, Fast Forward, Team Body Glide, and TWINCAM just to name a few. Skaters came from all across the country to cheer each other on and enjoy some of the best bicycle racing in the country while resting between inline races. Michael Mandli was the star of the show. With some help from Jim White, Melissa Meyers and several other skaters, he saved inline skating at Superweek. He helped choose the courses, register skaters, collect money, acuire prizes, announce races, compile results and skate faster than nearly all the other category 2 skaters. Not only that; when it was all over, those who won prize money in the cat 1s & 2s were given checks from Michael and Jane Mandli's personal checking account!!! If you want to help with an event or have more races in your area, try to be like Mike. News Home |
