All the world class big boys and girls were out pounding the pavement at the biggest skate party in America, the Northshore Inline Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota. And my word, is the face of skating ever changing! Last year 84mm was all the rage, now you can't look anywhere without seeing the Big Ones!

The fog was heavy at the start, and by the time the shroud lifted, a small breakaway containing all the major teams except Hyper and Empire had gotten off for good. The main pack telescoped back and forth and while lead yo-yo'd from between a minute and four minutes!

When the chasers reached the highway with only a few miles to go, a fierce battle for positioning got underway. "It was war out there," said one skater after the finish. More than a few elbows flew and tempers flared too. Woe is the skater caught up this this kind of hullabaloo!
