Skaters flowed down the Niagara River Parkway -- sometimes in a torrent of rain --and stopped just short of going over the falls at the Casino Niagara Marathon, Sunday, October 20, 2001.

A little inclement weather didn't stop the fun at all! Are you kidding? People in costume rolled out the cheer, and even the pros managed to keep it light-hearted and legal.

Defending champion Jordan Nelson (Rollerblade) gave up the ghost after a multivaried attack by Eddy Matzger (TWINCAM) and his new Salomon/Xenan/Miller monocoque skates.

Over 300 skaters drank in the majestic sights of Niagara Falls. Kiki Carawiane from Tahiti, French Polynesia -- no stranger to scenic beauty himself -- gave the marathon true international flavor. Kiki finished 17th overall and 1st in his 20-24 age category. Bon travail Kiki!
