The 2001 Gifu Nagaragawa Cup showcased talent from across the board. Dancers, hockey players, slalom specialists, and racers basked all day in beautiful weather and good vibes. The Gifu Cup again proved to be one of the most well-organized inline events around. Volunteers aplenty, tremendous stages and sound systems, grand banners, a paltry entry fee (about $12) and everything going off like clockwork. A perennial favorite was the costume roll, where the Halloween spirit stayed alive in skaters who gave each costume their own special twist. The main event was the 10K race on the newly lengthened riverway. In spite of ever- strengthening opposition TWINCAM's Eddy Matzger bolted off the line and never looked back. Sweet victory. skatecentral |
