The 20th Annual Athens to Atlanta Road Skate was epic in every way. Like TWINCAM Salomon skater Eddy Matzger, who rode his 100mm skates into the history books by booking victory for the fifth time at the 85 mile event. Like Daryl from Team in Training, cancer-free and over 7 feet tall, undergoing 86 miles of physical and emotional ups and downs. Like the SuperGals who completed the skate in 9 hours and still looked fresher than daisies. Like Bill, whose chapter lost 3 skaters in the World Trade Center disaster, conquering every mile like it was his last. Like Andreas, who suffered an early crash which took his skin to the bone and still finished 2nd overall. Like the over 500 skaters who skated their hearts out AND attended the post-race awards ceremony. Like the host of volunteers and sponsors who helped make this event bigger than life.
